NIKE Missile session
Shortly after arriving in California, my buddy TradeMark, had just finished a residency at the Headlands. Nearby is an old Missile base and he was able to get permission to record the missiles. So we packed up the Portable ECC studio and proceeded to beat on some warheads. The sounds they made were quite lovely and we got some awesome samples. The noise of the elevators and bay doors opening were quite stunning also. The tour-guide said the sound of the bay doors opening was used in 'Star Wars', it's the sound of the 'trash compacter' starting up right after they 'save' the princess.
